Update May 23rd : Released in Dubai?
Samsung’s Galaxy S3 Android smartphone will be released in the U.S. on June 1 through Amazon for $800, and it’s available today in Dubai.
Reports are coming in from Dubai that the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, known as the GT-i9300, is being sold today, although it’s unknown whether Dubai retailers have broken the street date of the phone or their release is simply early.
The international version comes SIM-free and with 16GB of memory, and it will almost certainly have at least one advantage over the eventual carrier-specific release of the Galaxy S3: the quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos processor.
The processor is not compatible with 4G LTE, so you’ll potentially trade faster data connection for that extra oomph.
The international Samsung Galaxy S3 will be compatible with AT&T’s HSPA+ network, and it will be able to make calls on T-Mobile, though incompatibility with T-Mobile’s 1700MHZ band means no high-speed data on that carrier. The GT-i9300 won’t be compatible with Sprint or Verizon. techradar.com

Following the phone’s unveiling in London last week, Canadian carrier TELUS is the first North American mobile network to reveal that it’ll be carrying the LTE version of Samsung’s new Galaxy S III. TELUS says the phone will be available “in time for the summer,” which fits with the June timeframe that Samsung has marked for the Galaxy S III’s U.S. launch. Update April 23rd : Samsung Galaxy S3 Teaser Video
The official teaser trailer is live! Check it out here.
Update April 17th : Release May Third!
Samsung Mobile has just sent out the invite above to UK press, along with details of a “Samsung Unpacked” event in London on May 3. The message asks members of the press to “come and meet the next Galaxy.” That’ll be the Galaxy S III, then. Samsung says it plans on live streaming the event, which kicks off at 7pm local time (2pm EDT, 11am PDT), via its official Facebook page.
Update April 4th
Well its been a little bit of time since we last updated this post… but it looks like the Galaxy S3 pre-orders have reached 10 million units, that’s crazy!
Rumors have pointed toward a release date for this spring, with some fluctuating between a April or May launch. In the last week of March, an image leaked depicting the smartphone with a date of May 22nd 2012 at 7 p.m. on its home screen

Update March 28th
Multiple sites report that Samsung could unveil the Samsung Galaxy S III on March 30th after Eurodroid spotted a Samsung teaser in the window of retailer Phones 4U. This was quickly debunked though… so where are you Samsung Galaxy S3? Also there is a new entry in the Global Download Center of the Samsung UK support section as the GT-I9308, which is just after the yet to be released GT-I9300, what does this mean? I’m not sure, maybe a second revision of the phone, slightly different hardware? Either way the imminent release date is looming, and I am sure people are ready to order asap…
Update #2 March 19th : Wireless Charging and Quad Core Exynos Processor
So they say that the new Galaxy S3 will have wireless charging, but just wait for it, wireless charging 1 to 2 meters from the charging base. How cool would that be, go sit on your couch and have the base station by your TV, and voila, your phone starts charging! Best thing about this rumor is that it apparently available out of the box. Not too sure if it has the capability out of the box with the need to purchase the base station or if the wireless charging base station comes in the box…
About the Processor, it is said that a Samsung Executive said that the Galaxy S3 will be powered by a quad-core system-on-chip, which, more importantly, will have Samsung’s own LTE modem built in. Another Samsung Exec says that their LTE solution has been utilized in the Galaxy Nexus and they are confident about its compatability and reliability.
Update March 19th
The newest picture out there of the supposed Samsung Galaxy S3 is most likely a fake, although some details about it may be valid, the post claims that the Galaxy S3 will have a 4.7″ Super AMOLED+HD screen and ”a ceramic ‘micro arc oxidation’ back, like the HTC One X. Here is that picture, you be the judge. Is it fake? Doesn’t look very high def to me… and why use the flash? why not take another one when you preview the image? Seems shady to me…
Update March 17th
So apparently there are pictures of the SIII (S3) up on Ausdroid.com. Now these pictures are said to be fake, but they are as close as its going to get for now, as these mock-ups have been rendered by someone who apparently has seen the real deal. I for one love posting rumor pictures so here it is!
Assuming the image is legit, we can then say that the previous benchmarks that had leaked for the GT-i9300 are not for this device. The GT-i9300 is likely to be the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus. I say this because the benchmarks showed specs such as a 1196×720 display resolution, which is exactly the same as the Galaxy Nexus because of its software buttons — the Galaxy S III shown above has no such buttons. It also showed clock speeds of 200MHz to 1400MHz, which are exactly the same as the Galaxy Nexus — the Galaxy S III is rumoured to have a 1.5GHz Quad-Core CPU.
I am pretty sure the Quad Core CPU stands, so don’t worry your little heads off
More updates to follow! Go here to see more pics from AusDroid.
Update March 12th : Well I can tell you that the S3 will definitely NOT be released in April, rumors were spreading that people would be able to get their hands on the phone before the Summer Olympics, which may not be the case.
Cheil Worldwide, Samsung’s marketing and advertising agency, is prepping quite the marketing move in the UK so maybe we’ll get some more info soon.
Samsung has filed more trademark names that we suspect are reserved for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Android Authority states, ” The new names that Samsung have filed for protection are the Galaxy Thunder, Galaxy Express and Galaxy Accelerate. A short while back, the company has also secured the Galaxy Emerge, Galaxy Stellar, and Galaxy Halo monikers. It’s not certain yet if these are the names that the company will christen the Samsung Galaxy S3 with, but let’s just say we won’t be surprise if they will. “
So sit tight folks and I’ll keep you up to date!
Update March 9th : There is a pre-order page up for the Galaxy S3, but you DO NOT want to order it… it must be a hoax or something… check it out here over at Android Central… Also, is it true that the real Galaxy S3 will be released in April 2012? I’m not too sure about that, the Galaxy S2 is doing so well, may as well play ball with Apple and release a new phone every year! Everyone will want to upgrade!
The newest phone from Samsung might only be a few months away… some say its scheduled to be launched somewhere between June and July… some highlighted specifications are as below.
- NFC (Near Field Communication) Chip
- 3rd generation Super AMOLED 3D Screen
- Ultra Low SAR Levels
- Blazing fast Speeds with Quad Core Processor
- 12MP Camera, most likely a 3MP front camera
- Probable 4G Supported Phone
- Slimmest Smart Phone ever
- Ice Cream Sandwich (obviously)
According to a report of a recent interview on CNET, a Samsung executive has suggested that the S3 will be equipped with a 24 hour, all day battery guaranteed in medium to heavy users.
